Brushless Outer Rotor In-Wheel Motors

The brushless wheel hub motors from our manufacturer PMW Dynamics are designed for direct installation in the wheel hub as a wheel drive for battery-powered vehicles for traction and lifting applications. The XR wheel hub motors from PMW offer high energy efficiency and high torque density through the use of powerful permanent rare-earthbmagnets. The design as an external rotor motor facilitates use as a direct drive motor in the wheel assembly and at the same time helps to increase the air gap area due to the geometric position of the magnets far outside the diameter, thereby increasing the torque density. The stator winding achieves a high degree of slot filling due to the so-called single-tooth winding, which also contributes to optimizing the torque density.

 

The wheel hub motors shown here are generally derived from the XR disk motors; other versions are possible at any time on customer request.

Our manufacturer PMW Dynamics specializes in the development and production of electric motors for wheel drives for traction and lifting applications in mobile robotic systems. In order to expand the range of applications, an integrated wheel drive motor with servo gearbox has now been introduced. The special feature is the integration of a highly efficient brushless pancake motor with a precision planetary gearbox in a housing. The result is an ultra-compact servo actuator for battery-powered traction and steering applications that meets the highest requirements in terms of efficiency, precision, protection class and service life. Applications can be found in warehouse logistics, in automated guided vehicle systems (AGVs) or in outdoor applications, e.g. agricultural machinery technology.
